Building Hope & Dignity
Did you know that the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) is active in 26 locations across Edmonton and Central & Northern Alberta? Over 600 volunteers worked in 2024 to assist a total of 14,933 people in urgent need (including 6,177 children) in their local area. In their mission to serve Christ through the poor, Vincentians deliver food/grocery cards, beds, furniture, housewares, transit tickets and more to whoever needs their help, regardless of the circumstance. They also ship containers of food and other goods to 9 communities in the Western Arctic. Requests for help, especially for food and beds, have skyrocketed over the last two years, so the SSVP Edmonton Central Council is holding its first-ever fundraising Gala on June 5 at the Chateau Lacombe. Please consider joining us for an evening of fine dining, inspiring speakers, and a chance to win a great prize in our raffle or live auction. Tickets are $250 or $2000 for a table of 8, part of which will be returned as a tax receipt. To buy your tickets and/or or make a donation, visit

What we do
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a charitable organization entirely run by volunteers. We provide assistance to those in need through distributing items donated by the public.
We respond to 1200 SSVP Hotline calls for help each month, going out in pairs to visit people in need. Once needs are assessed, basic necessities are then delivered.
We bring the love of Christ to serve the poor on a person to person basis. Those in need are always treated with dignity and provided with support as they struggle in crisis situations.
We acknowledge that Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 territory, on which we stand,
is the ancestral traditional land of the Indigenous peoples,
and is common home to everyone in virtue of God, our Creator’s, gracious gift.
